The story

A place for nail studio.

I’ve called Floresville home since 2001, but my journey in nails started long before that.

I’ve been licensed for 32 years, and funny enough, nails were not the part of cosmetology school I thought I would fall in love with. At first, I actually avoided them. My mom did nails, though, so the tools and supplies were always around. Little by little, I started practicing on anyone who would let me, and somewhere around 1990 or 1991, something changed.

I realized I loved the art of it.

Not just the polish or the design, but the technique behind making nails look beautiful, natural, and cared for. I learned early that good work comes before fast work, and I’ve carried that with me ever since: technique before timing.

I eventually went back to school specifically for nails because I wanted to do it the right way and become better at the craft. What started as part-time and weekend work slowly became the career I was meant to have.

Over the years, I worked in Elmendorf, then Adkins, and eventually found my way to Floresville. I met Jocelyn, worked alongside her, stepped away for a time to open my own place, and life did what life does. My mother passed away, I spent time in the hospital, I had a baby, and I had to close my business.

But nails never left me.

In 2008, I came back to Jocelyn, and I’ve been here ever since.

That history is part of why I chose the name The Art of Nails. To me, nails really are an art form. It’s the art of technique, detail, shape, balance, and helping someone look down at their hands and feel good about what they see.

After more than three decades, I still care about getting it right. I still enjoy the process. And I still feel lucky every time someone trusts me to create something beautiful for them.
